Keeping the Machine Going

Happy winter!

Whether we’re touring, rehearsing, recording, or shoveling the snow off our driveways, we have to stay healthy-minded to keep 1000 Generations going.  Other than drinking plenty of water, there are other beverages of choice that we prefer as well.  Recently, we posted a new video that details this very topic.  Check it out if you haven’t had the chance:

“What IS Your Favorite Beverage?”

We hope that you enjoy it and get a laugh, or at least help pass the time on this wintery, blustery day!  Now be sure and comment about YOUR beverage of choice.

Blessings,
Lorin Continue reading

1000 Generations Baby on the way!!!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to officially let you know that I am pregnant! Steven and I will be having a little band baby on June 13th! I’m 18 weeks right now and will find out if I’m having a boy or girl two weeks from today.

I am doing well, still touring and running around like crazy. I’m having to get creative with my outfits since I’m gaining weight so that has been interesting. We still have some great summer shows lined up and I’m planning on being at them…newborn and all!

I hope you are doing well and that you had a great Christmas and New Year. Hope to see you at a show soon!

Amanda

There Is Enough!

Merry Christmas!

We are getting ready to do a benefit concert at Birdy’s on Monday December 21st at 8 p.m. (2131 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis)  The benefit is for a newly formed non-profit called, ThereIsEnough.  This was launched on Black Friday 2009 connecting partners of redistribution to provide food, fresh water, housing, clothing, health care and justice for those in need.  Check out what they’re doing; and if you’re in Indy next Monday night, come out and support a great cause and hear some great music all at the same time!

All of us in 1000 Generations proudly supports a child through World Vision.  I must encourage you to go and check out what World Vision is doing for Christmas!  If you give as little as $25 dollars, you can change a life by choosing a one time gift for a child or family in need or start by sponsoring a child.   Here’s their link:
WORLD VISION

No, this isn’t like buying them an XBOX.  It is better…WAY better.  You’ll be saving a life, or blessing a family with a livestock or medical supplies!   If you’ve never thought about supporting a child, then what are you waiting for?  It costs less than your cell phone bill this month!  Go ahead and do it…give!  There IS enough!

May the blessings abound in your life this Christmas!

Christmas traditions

Steven and I decorated our Christmas tree last week…and then undecorated the bottom half of it this week after our dog, Frampton, ate several ornaments, hook and all!!!

As we were decorating, Steven made an interesting point. He said, “This is a really weird tradition don’t you think?” At first I didn’t agree but, after giving it more thought, I changed my mind. I mean think about someone in another country learning about how people celebrate Christmas…

Step #1: Buy a tree that has been chopped down
Step #2: Set it up in the most widely trafficked room in your home for all to see
Step #3: Give it water so it stays “alive”
Step #4: Put shiny lights, ornaments, tinsil, popcorn and all sorts of decor all over it
Step #5: After January 1st, throw it to the curb and clean up the mess it made in your home.

Kinda weird when you put it that way huh?

Amanda :-)

How Big Small Can Be in Nigeria Category: Music

Happy Thanksgiving! Recently we had the awesome opportunity of having our song “How Big Small Can Be” edited for Moody Church’s Nigeria Report video. Erin Rigsby, once a missionary and nurse with SIM in Nigeria, helped care for the orphans and former street children of City Ministries Nigeria.  After acquiring a lung condition, she was forced to come home to Chicago for surgery and recovery.  Since then, her passion for at risk children in Nigeria continues with even more definition and persistence.  In December 2008, Moody Church raised $76,500 for City Ministries Nigeria! The following is the video report to the church of how the money was spent… Continue reading

Beautiful Death

Confusing subject? No, I’m not masochistic and I am certainly not someone who takes great pleasure in pain. What I’m referring to when I say “Beautiful Death” is the Autumn…my favorite time of year. I’m sitting at my kitchen table right now and directly ahead of me is a window to my backyard. The leaves on the trees are orange and yellow, the bushes are all red and the ground is covered with leaves that have turned their final color: brown. (Let’s all have a moment of pity for Steven & I at the vast amount of raking that lies ahead for us…sigh…ok, moving on). Brown, red, orange, and yellow…it’s like Pottery Barn out there! It’s so amazing and beautiful and it’s all dying!!! These are the colors that comes with fall, with death. It’s a death that is not creepy or sad b/c we know that it will turn back in to life again. So we enjoy it, take pictures, and decorate our houses in the same colors we see outside. It makes me wonder what has “died” or is “dying” in my life that is leading to new life, new beginnings, and that can actually be a source of joy for me. Let me just take a moment to say that I am not talking about a person or loved one dying. That is an entirely different story. Here’s an example, before I met Steven, I was dating someone else. When this relationship began to turn south and die it was really painful for me. It was also absolutely necessary! Had it not been for that death, I would not have found the life I have with Steven today. I think our relationships, ideas, dreams, and plans are constantly in a state of death and rebirth. My prayer for all of us today is that we would trust that God has our best in mind so that even if we find ourselves having to let go of something, we know that God will fill our empty hands back up. Amanda :-) P.S. If you’re open to sharing, I’d love to hear about the “deaths” you’ve experienced, and the life they’ve led to. Continue reading

1000 Generations at E91 Church this Sunday

Yesterday morning, 1000 Generations lead worship at E91 Church here in Indianapolis(actually, you could say 500 Generations, since only half of were on stage).  Our apologies if you were expecting a full-on band experience.  We had some technical difficulties and had to make a last-minute decision for Steven and Amanda to lead with acoustic guitar and piano minus the drums and bass.  As usual, Steven and Amanda’s voices blended beautifully, the Spirit moved, and 3000 people worshiped.   Continue reading

Hey spookies!

Well, it is that time of year again. Instead of decorating our myspace with spiders, bats and ghostbusters, I thought I’d share a fun mini-movie that I made… Continue reading
