Amanda Lee:

Amanda Potaczek

Me in a nutshell: my name is Amanda. I play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and sing. I love to organize things. I have a serious problem with running into inanimate objects. I drool when I sleep…and sometimes when I’m awake.

I used to sing in the shower and play guitar on my pillow. I’m so thankful to be doing both for real now. I’m even more thankful that I get to use these gifts for God’s kingdom.

People always ask me why we chose to name our band 1000 Generations. The Bible says in Duet. 7:9 that, “the blessings of God extend to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

For some people, the avenue that leads them into a deeper walk with God is sermons; for some it is art. For me, it has been music. Change takes place in me as I encounter God through music. The blessing of this change affects not only me, but also the generations to come after me. As we share through music, it’s this blessing that I want others to experience in their own lives, as well as in the generations that follow them.

Notes: One person really can make a difference. In August 2011, the band 1000 Generations released this video for their song “It Could Be Me” (from their critically acclaimed EP “Wrecked For the Ordinary”). Both the song and video are born from the belief in the power of simply doing something.
