I was remembering something today that happened a few years ago...
Steven and I were at Steak n' Shake and we were sitting next to a table where an "interestingly dressed" man sat. I'm embarrassed to say that we proceeded to crack jokes about this man and his funny appearance.
We had just ordered our food when we realized that we didn't have any cash on us. This was back when Steak n' Shake didn't take credit cards. We were just about to tell our server to cancel our order when the very man that we had been making fun of came up to our table and said, "I overheard you saying you didn't bring any money and love to pay for your meal. Here's $20, God bless you guys."
Steven and I sat there totally dumbfounded and humbled. It was a major life lesson for me to be shown love and kindness from someone I was treating unfairly.
My prayer for all of us is that our lives and our conversations (even the ones we think no one hears) would honor God and show kindness to others.
